God’s Unconditional Love for Mankind

Love given to a son, even when the father knows the son will not return that love is unconditional love, the most pure love. That love is never wasted.

When the prodigal son returned, his father still loved him. And he had loved him all the time his son had been gone and would have continued loving him even if he never returned. That’s unconditional love.

Luke 15:20 NKJV “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

That’s the same kind of love of God has for all mankind. Jesus himself speaks of this love and says,

John 3:16 NKJV “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Jesus died for all mankind, even knowing that it would not be accepted by all.

Romans 5:18 NKJV “Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.”

1 John 2:2 NKJV “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

It is not wasteful that Christ died for all mankind, and that only some would believe on him to eternal life. It is the most powerful love—unconditional love, love that does not require reciprocation.

Nonetheless, it is no small thing to reject that love. God has commanded all men everywhere to repent.

Acts 17:30-31 NKJV
30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

Christ was raised up on the cross to take away our sins. Look to Him and believe.

John 3:14-15 NKJV
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
